Midlands Rural Transport was established in 2019 with the amalgamation of Gordon’s Transport from Taupo (originally established in 2004) and the Livestock Division of Central Transport Ltd based Broadlands, between Taupo and Rotorua (established in 2002). This decision to amalgamate these 2 companies was based on utilising people and truck movements & it was decided to name this new company Midlands Rural Transport after the original rural transport company that serviced the Reporoa Valley in the 1970’s. Midlands Rural Transport now runs 40 Stock units consisting of Volvos, Scanias and Kenworths. The business has depots in Broadlands, Taupo, Rotorua, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui and Hastings, with its main office operating out of the Broadlands depot alongside Central Transport Ltd. Midlands also operates Midlands Groundspread Ltd, which has 3 Groundspread units servicing the Central Plateau area.
