This item is not suitable for children.Frews Transport was founded in 1921 in Greendale, Canterbury, New Zealand, when E.H. Frew and W. McCrostie went into the haulage business with a single traction engine. Trading as McCrostie and Frew, their 10-horsepower traction engine would haul 3 or 4 two-axle wagons typically filled with bagged grain to the Norwood and Darfield railway stations for further transport to Christchurch. A century & five generations later Frews Transport remains a family owned and operated rural transport company.
Frews has 2 depots in Canterbury; Darfield and Oxford, and operates a fleet of 60 vehicles. Frews trucks cart livestock, logs, fertiliser, aggregate materials and general goods for a wide range of clients around the central Canterbury region, the South Island and beyond.
This Volvo FH16-700 & Trailer, fleet number 100, went into operation in NZ, September 2021 as part of Frews Transport’s 100 years celebration. It’s cab & chassis were assembled & painted in the Volvo Truck Plant in Wacol, Queensland, Australia. The Jackson Trailer was bought new to partner with this Volvo. The truck & trailer stock crates are made by Delta Stock Crates and feature 2 decks for cattle & 4 decks for sheep.
Truck 100 is based in the Oxford depot & moves livestock predominantly around the South Island but can be seen as far from Canterbury as the Far North and clocks up to 110,000 km per year.
A century in business is certainly something to celebrate so Kiwi Replicas has created this special 100 Years edition to acknowledge the remarkable achievement of one of New Zealand’s iconic transport companies.
